Halloween Story Basket
A Halloween story basket is a versatile way that will bring the topic to life for babies and young children.
A story basket is the perfect way to introduce new topics to young children. Story baskets help visualise books and topics by bringing together a range of sensory items. The benefits of story baskets are not just for toddlers and preschoolers, older children can also benefit from them too.
Do I need a basket?
No, not at all. If you do not have a basket then do not worry as there are lots of things you can use instead. You could use a storage box, plastic box, a shoe box or even a story bag.
What to include in my Halloween story basket
There are no set rules when it comes to what you put into your story basket. I like to include lots of different items with different colours and textures alongside my chosen book or books. Choose anything that is age appropriate for your child that will inspire their imagination.
What to include in your Halloween story basket:
For babies and toddlers I like to include sensory bottles for a safe way to include small parts. You can fill them with whatever you like. I included small spiders, orange matchsticks, purple matchsticks and googly eyes.
There is no right or wrong way to explore a story basket. You can let your child explore the basket as you read or you can let your child explore the books first and then the items. It is completely flexible! Allow your child to explore the basket in their own individual ways.
