Oreo Love Bug Cookies
Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I've got a lovely baking activity that doesn't actually contain any baking, perfect for younger children who want to skip straight to the decorating part.
To make your Oreo Love Bug Cookies only require five ingredients and a small heart cookie cutter. These are completely adaptable and you can decorate them however you like.
Oreo Love Bug Cookies
Ingredients
Pack of Oreo cookies
Icing Sugar
Red Food Colouring
Edible Eyes
Black Fondant Icing
Make up some icing by adding a small amount of water to some icing sugar and mixing. Keep adding drops of water until you get the desired consistency. I made my icing not too runny but not too thick. Then add a few drops of food colouring, again adding small amounts at a time until you get your desired colour. Roll out the black fondant icing and using a small heart cookie cutter, cut out black hearts. I did this on a chopping board lightly dusted with icing sugar to stop it from sticking.
Lightly spoon the icing onto each Oreo, covering about a third of the cookie. I set them down onto a baking tray to capture any drips. Before the icing sets add two love hearts onto each cookie. Finally add two edible eyes onto each Oreo with some leftover icing.
