Kids Fruity Watermelon Pizza
Watermelon Pizza is a healthy, quick and refreshing snack or breakfast accompaniment. Topped with your favourite yogurt and fruit it's sure to be a hit with your little ones.
I'm constantly trying new ways to make food interesting for my children. I've mentioned before the importance of making meals fun. It keeps children engaged in their food and they are more likely to eat something if it is presented in a fun way. Cutting a watermelon into triangles is not very exciting but pizza watermelon triangles give it a totally new dimension.
This is really easy to prepare, simply slice the watermelon into rounds. You can either cut into triangles straight away or top with yogurt and your chosen fruit then cut into triangles.
Watermelon Pizza Toppings
We all know the best part of pizza is the toppings! Watermelon pizza is no exception to this. You can top your watermelon pizza with pretty much any fruit of your choice. As we are in the height of summer we chose to top with gorgeous summer berries and some grapes. We added some Greek yogurt to one of our pizza rounds but this is completely optional. Once our fruit toppings were added we then added a sprinkling of desiccated coconut to replicate grated cheese.
Kids In The Kitchen
This is such a great activity to get the kids involved. Young children can help spread the yogurt and of course decorate their own slice with their chosen toppings. Older children if feeling confident and with adult supervision can cut the watermelon rounds into triangles. Make sure they are using an appropriate knife. Involving children in food preparation is also likely to make them more accepting of new foods while also teaching them important life skills.
