Healthy Kids Christmas

We all know that there are certain times of the year when sugary treats peak, Easter, Birthdays and Christmas. So while I always believe in everything in moderation I'm always looking for ways to create fun and healthy food.

Reindeer Apple Slices

These super cute reindeer are a great way to make snack time fun. To make, all you need to do is slice an apple, top with peanut butter, add pretzel ears, edible eyes and complete with blueberry noses and one raspberry nose for Rudolph.

Watermelon Christmas Trees

So here in the UK it might not exactly be the weather for ice lolly's but that doesn't normally stop us from enjoying them. Watermelons make a great natural healthy ice lolly but they also make great Christmas trees. Simply slice a watermelon into triangles then cut out a tree stump. I then used some natural yogurt to use as tinsel. I then topped with some raisins and dried cranberries to decorate. Once finished just pop in the freezer for a few hours.

Fruit Candy Cane

One of the easiest ways to create a healthy fun snack is to make a banana and strawberry candy cane. All you need to do is alternate some banana and strawberry into a candy cane - easy!

Green and Red Muffin Tray

This is one of the easiest ways to create a fun and healthy snack. Muffin tray meals are a great way to mix things up when it comes to meal or snack times. Sometimes just a change in how you present food can be the encouragement fussy eaters need to try new foods. By simply using green and red foods you can make this into a fun festive snack.

Reindeer Banana Cookies

Exactly like the reindeer apple slices, top some cookies with peanut butter, add pretzel ears, add raisin eyes and a dried cranberry for a Rudolph nose. You can find the recipe for the banana oat cookies here.

Kiwi Christmas Tree

A very easy but fun healthy snack to create for your little ones is this Kiwi Christmas tree. Simply slice kiwi into circles, arrange into a tree shape, decorate with fruit of your choice. Use a star cookie cutter to create a fruit star to top your tree.

Avocado Christmas Tree

This fun Christmas tree is so easy to make. Simply mash some avocado onto a tortilla wrap. Cut into triangles with one slightly bigger than the other. Arrange into a tree shape and top with some decorations, I used chopped tomato and sweetcorn. Using a star cookie cutter, I added a cheese star.
